THE CHALLENGE:

Middlesbrough Football Club sought to upgrade key areas of their First Team facilities at Rockcliffe Hall, including the manager and coaches’ area, changing rooms, and the media auditorium. With pre-season training imminent, the project required delivery within a strict six-week window. The challenge was to complete high-quality refurbishment works on time, within a set budget, and without disrupting the club’s pre-season preparations.

OUR SOLUTION:

Applebridge Building Services responded with a proactive and structured approach, recognising the project’s time-critical nature. During the pre-construction phase, we identified and resolved technical queries to minimise disruption once on site. Early procurement of materials and engagement with specialist subcontractors ensured all resources were secured in alignment with the construction programme. On site, our team maximised
working hours and identified opportunities to accelerate progress while maintaining quality. Close collaboration with Middlesbrough FC allowed for streamlined communication and rapid decision-making, supporting consistent progress across all workstreams.

SCOPE OF WORKS:

Applebridge Building Services were appointed to complete the following packages of works:

• Strip-out of existing finishes and internal blockwork walls
• Installation of new electrical and plumbing services
• New partition walls, skim finish, and suspended ceilings
• Glazed aluminium screens
• Auditorium staged seating
• Installation of lockers and benching
• Floor finishes and full redecoration

THE RESULTS:

The £180k refurbishment was completed on time and within budget in June 2023. Applebridge delivered modernised First Team facilities that enhance both functionality and aesthetics for coaches, players, and media personnel. By combining careful planning with efficient delivery, we ensured the upgraded spaces were ready for use ahead of the new football season—without compromise.
