The Challenge

Chesham Primary Academy required its existing outdoor areas to be reconfigured to better support early years and key stage one learning. The school needed spaces that were safer, more functional and capable of accommodating a wider range of structured and unstructured activities. The works had to be delivered within a live school environment, with strict safeguarding controls and minimal interruption to daily operations.

Our Solution

Applebridge Building Services was appointed as Principal Contractor to manage the project from pre-start through to completion. We developed a coordinated delivery plan covering enabling works, sequencing and safeguarding arrangements, and worked closely with Pentagon Play to align ground preparation with equipment installation requirements. Clear communication with the academy and the specialist contractor allowed activities to be programmed efficiently and risks associated with working in a live school setting to be effectively managed.

The Results

The redevelopment has provided Chesham Primary Academy with a practical and well-organised outdoor environment that supports physical development, creative play and outdoor learning. The works were completed safely and in accordance with programme, with limited disruption to school activities. The new layout and infrastructure provide a durable platform for long-term use and future adaptation.
